Biography: Samantha Jean James was born on November 7, 1963 to parents Melissa James and Raymond James. Being almost three months premature her parents were told not to worry when she didn't reach the milestones most children did. At 18 months old she was diagnosed with Quad-Spastic Cerebral Palsy. Until the age of 9 Samantha was confined to a wheelchair, from there she moved up step by step to the next piece of equipment offered to her, determined not to let her disability control her.
Samantha met Christopher Delessio at the age of five, Delessio was seven at the time. When Delessio was 13, he was diagnosed with HIV after a tainted blood transfusion. By the time Samantha was thirteen, she and Delessio began dating, and they were engaged shortly after she turned seventeen. Unfortunately, within months of the engagement, Delessio passed away from an infection his body could not fight.
Shortly after Delessio's death, Samantha left her small town home in North Carolina and moved to New York. With funding from her grandparents, she opened a free clinic for those who cannot afford most medical care.
